About the float
The Wings to End Stigma Float will make its first appearance at the 2024 All-Souls Procession in Tucson on Sunday, November 3rd. This float is a dedication or “ofrenda” to those who lost their lives to overdose. The float is meant to humanize addiction and overdose by placing names and faces to the statistics, and bringing the community’s awareness to the increasing number of deaths by overdose in Pima County.
The float will feature monitors with scrolling images, videos and messages that people share about their loved ones who have died by overdose. It will include wooden butterflies where participants at the procession can write their loved ones names and messages to them. All the messages will go in a decorated space in front of the screens. Want to include your loved one on the float?
For those who want to honor a loved one who died by overdose, they can submit a picture or video of that person, or a video of themselves sharing the story of how they have been impacted by that loss. Photos, videos, and stories can be submitted via the All Souls Float Submissions form.
